According to the Oregon Health Authority, nearly 70% of adults 18 and over have received at least one dose of a COVID vaccine, some figures claim 66 percent, others 68.

According to national and CDC resources, the overall vaccination rate of all persons in the state is around 50%, but that includes many under 18 who have not gotten a shot.

For whatever reason, Oregon is now hopping onboard the vaccine lottery train. Wednesday, the Oregon Lottery announced Take Your Shot Oregon, which will reportedly reward some lucky recipient $1 million dollars.

Unlike Washington's (so far) lukewarm Shot Of a Lifetime lottery which is paying out 4 $250K prizes over four weeks to four people, everyone in Oregon of legal age who has been vaccinated will reportedly be entered.

The injection 'window' is up until June 27th. If a person gets at least one dose of the vaccine by then, they will be entered into the lottery.

The Oregon Lottery released this statement Wednesday:

"Oregonians who have received at least one dose of the Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccine by June 27th will be automatically entered to win the big prize through the state’s vaccine database.

All Oregonians vaccinated in Oregon through June 27th will be eligible. Oregonians who received their first shot out of state and veterans who received their shot through the VA are also eligible but will need to enter themselves into the drawing at TakeYourShot.Oregon.gov."

It will be interesting to see what impact this may have on vaccination rates. In WA so far, Shot of A Lifetime has not produced any major increases in vaccination rates.
