Pasco Car Prowler Nailed After Damaging Multiple Vehicles with Machete
Pasco Police now say a man arrested last Thursday for alleged car prowls could be tied to some Kennewick car thefts.
A 39-year-old man is in custody facing a variety of charges after he was apprehended in Pasco, after a lengthy search and chase.
Garwech Nyeboul Chut was seen by witnesses allegedly prowling cars near 13th and Ainsworth. The citizen who called was able to videotape Chut running away from the scene, armed with a machete. Police at the scene found a third vehicle that had been broken into, all 3 damaged.
Meanwhile, Chut was seen running jumping fences as he fled, still armed with the long bladed knife. During their search, another vehicle was found in the area, it had been reported stolen out of Kennewick, but the owner was still in the process of being notified.
Finally, around 4:45PM citizens in the area of South 13th near the Columbia River, some alert neighbors found Chut hiding in the 'attic' of a shed. He was surrounded Officers and gave up without incident.
He's facing a variety of car prowl charges but could be facing more, as he had property with him from the stolen Kennewick vehicle. He could also be facing auto theft charges. The incident continues to be investigated.
