
Pilot of Cessna That Crashed West of George Was 70-Year-Old Woman
The pilot who died in their single-engine Cessna 172 Skyhawk Tuesday night was reportedly from Waterville, WA. The crash site wreckage is circled in red in this image from the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office.

The plane, which was flying from Yakima to Chelan, disappeared from transponder data around 9 PM Tuesday night. When the plane did not arrive, alerts went out.
Around 11 PM Grant and Kittitas County Deputies headed to an area near the Gorge at George, the last location where the data was pinpointed to.
An over night search failed to turn up any evidence, but around 9 AM searchers found the wreckage of the plane near Whiskey Dick Mountain, the location near Grant and Kittitas County border.

The KCSO said the pilot's name was Susan Johnson, age 70. According to Source One News, social media comments indicated she was a traveling NICU nurse practitioner, who had been attending to babies in Yakima.
