Police Say No ‘Mistaken Pedal Use’ in Truck Through Store Crash
Kennewick police now say it does not appear the driver of this truck that crashed through the Sherwin Williams paint store on Clearwater pressed the wrong pedal.
Around 3pm, police responded to the store at 3936 West Clearwater and found this truck inside the facility. According to reports, the man had left the Autobahn car wash, and then his truck began to rapidly accelerate. He reportedly told officers he tried to pump the brakes, but to no avail.
The truck smashed through the store, but luckily the drive was not injured, nor was anyone else. Kennewick Police issued this latest update late Memorial Day:
"It appears at this time this was a case of mistaken pedal use. There were no major injuries reported. No criminal driving behavior was detected. There was no negligence indicated. No infractions were issued since this was on private property."
