A woman was able to escape two men who tried to force her into their car Wednesday evening.

The Umatilla County Sheriff's office is investigating the attempted abduction, which occurred around 9:30pm near the intersection of Main and Third Streets in Athena. The woman reported she was walking her dog when a gold four-door Honda pulled alongside and the male passenger asked for directions.

The man tried to grab her and force her into the car, but the woman broke free. The car sped off, she was not injured.

The passenger was described as a white male, short and thin, wearing black jeans and a white shirt with stripes. The driver was dark-haired, dark complexion with a longer goatee and moustache, wearing a backwards black baseball cap with curved brim.

Efforts to canvass the area looking for the suspect vehicle were unsuccessful, but Sheriff's officials hope to obtain more leads going through footage from nearby video surveillance cameras.
