As a bill moves through the Oregon legislature that would create universal back round checks for gun sales (similar to I-594 that passed in Washington state), it's interesting to look at the legislators who are pushing the bill.  Some of their activities are rather shocking.

Courtesy of the website Progressives Today and Michael Strickland, who brought you the hilarious Laughing at Liberals series,  some of the elected officials pushing Senate Bill 941 have said and done some "interesting" things when it comes to gun legislation.

The principal supporter of the bill is Senator Floyd Prozanski.  According to published reports, he tips off special interest groups about upcoming committee hearings but leaves the general public in the dark. That way, the legislators on the committee only hear the pro-gun control side of the argument, and the perception is created that citizens are in favor of universal gun control measures.

Senator Ginny Burdick also supports the bill, and was caught on an open, live microphone saying "there's a real Rambo complex" while making fun of gun owners.

He also admitted during an airing of the political program Your Voice Your Vote aired on Oregon stations, that his bills won't really stop criminals from getting firearms.

Representative Jennifer Williamson also supports the House version of the bill, saying she wants Oregon to be safer by passing this bill. However, she also favored and supported recent bills that would allow violent criminals out of jail early, and back on Oregon's streets.

And finally, Senator Chuck Riley, a big supporter of SB 941, but when pressed, could not explain how the back round check bill would actually work.
