See What Happened to Police Car When Driver Ran Red Light
Fortunately, the officer driving was treated and released at Kadlec after suffering several injuries.
A followup to Thursday's collision between a Richland PD patrol car and a van at the intersection of Jadwin and Williams.
The driver of the van, Briana Burke of Richland, was headed west on Williams Boulevard when she failed to stop at a red signal at Jadwin. Officer Michelle Goenen was driving south on Jadwin, when her patrol car was struck by the van.
The impact was hard enough the airbags went off in Officer Goenen's patrol car. Witnesses indicated the van traveled through the intersection against the red without stopping. The investigation is being conducted by the Washington State Patrol, because it involved an RPD officer and vehicle.
