You probably read the story about a card skimmer that was found at a Kennewick gas station yesterday... this scam is alive and well in our area. I read somewhere that Tri-Citians have lost in the neighborhood of $100,000 to this type of scam in recent months and when you see how quickly and easily these devices are to install you'll think twice before you swipe...

The 1st video shows how they install the device in under 30 seconds...

Two men enter a convenience store. One distracts the clerk while the other pulls a card skimmer from his pocket and applies it to the card reader in a matter of seconds. It is so fast there is no way the clerk would be suspicious -- not until the skimmer was detected and police went back to watch security cameras.

We've all seen the card skimmers outside at the gas pumps. We've been educated on how to look for them. But now there are new versions that go in card machines INSIDE the stores. And they're even thinner than previous versions. This is what they look like so you can check for them in the future.

This video shows how undetectable a skimmer actually is...

Both of these video's are from a local business in the Yakima Valley!
