Officials say 25-year-old Angel Mendoza was southbound on South Ely when he lost control of his 2021 Mercedes. He crossed over the centerline, slamming head-on into a 2010 Jeep Wrangler.
Both Jeep occupants were seriously hurt but after being taken to an area hospital, they're expected to make full recoveries.
However Mendoza died at the scene from his injuries. The investigation continues.
