According to information released by Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson, some 329,000 Washington state residents could be or are affected.

Communications giant T-Mobile announced just a few days ago that a security breach with the credit reporting agency Experian could have exposed 15 million  consumers to fraud, including the 329,000 in Washington state.

T-Mobile says the breach occurred with the company they use to run credit checks on on consumers who applied for their services, between the dates of September 1st, 2013 and September 16, 2015.

The breach may have caused Social security numbers, addresses, phone numbers, birth dates and other ID numbers to have been accessed by  the hackers.

Ferguson says T-Mobile is offering services to potentially affected consumers, and his office urges anyone who may have been affected to update their credit report, enroll of take advantage of credit protection services, and possibly place what is called a "security freeze" on their accounts. This temporary freeze keeps anyone from attempting to establish credit under your name for any reason - but the drawback is it prevents YOU from doing it as well.

Ferguson said additional efforts are expected to be offered by T-Mobile and Experian as well in the near future.
