The Tri City Americans are one game away from getting out the brooms.

After last night's 4-0 whitewash of the Everett Silvertips, the Americans are just three periods of hockey away from sweeping the  'Tips out of the WHL post-season.  While Everett has fought hard and not quit,  the Americans speed and skill is just too much for them to overcome.  Ty Rimmer kicked aside 23 shots, becoming part of a select company of American goalies who have pitched a shutout in the post-season.   He is the 6th American goalie to accomplish this feat.

Brendan Shinnimin continued his assault on the American's record books, tallying two goals to lead the effort.  After a scoreless first, the Am's broke it open with two in the second period and an empty net goal in the third.  The fourth American goal came just :37 after Simpson returned.   The Americans could possibly be without the services of Patrick Holland for tonight's game, as he was assesed a five minute major clipping penalty and a game misconduct.  Unlike the regular season,  game misconducts, or ejections, in the WHL postseason result in a one game suspension.  The 'Tips were missing Manraz Hayer, one of their defensemen, last night as he was suspended for a major penalty the previous game.
