We will have to wait until May 2 to find out who wins, but three big parts of the Tri City Americans are up for some big awards.

Ams' netminder Ty Rimmer was nominated as the Western Conference's selection for Goaltender Of The Year, going against Tyler Bunz of the Medicine Hat Tigers from the Eastern Conference.   Brendan Shinnimin, who led the Americans and WHL in scoring, will have his name inscribed on the Bob Clarke Trophy as the leading scorer in the league.  And Coach Jim Hiller is up for WHL Coach of the Year, the other nominee is Pat Conacher of the Regina Pats from the East.  The full list of WHL nominees is found here.

In addition,  Rimmer and Shinnimin were selected to the WHL Western Conference All-Star Team, Shinnimin being a unanimous selection.  Americans Patrick Holland, and 50 goal scorer Adam Hughesman were selected to the Second All Star Team, making this year a big one for Americans honors.

The Ams open up the 2012 playoffs Friday and Saturday vs. Everett at the Toyota Center, 7:05 puck drops both nights.
