A Young Black bear was spotted in orchards just west of Prosser. The "Black Bear" is actually brown in color and wildlife officials are not sure if it's male or female.

This is the 2nd bear I'm aware of near Tri-Cities in the last few years. I just keep thinking where did it come from? Because we really don't think of bears as desert types! Anyway wildlife authorities advise to keep trash and pet food secured inside a shed or garage and do not approach the bear as it is a wild animal.

I sure hope this bear is relocated back to the wild and not killed because of human interaction!
