Tip Leads to Capture of Kennewick Murder Suspect in Pasco
Kennewick police announced Friday afternoon they have a suspect in custody, related to the 9-11 fatal shooting of a man said to have been from Pasco.
Police arrested 37-year-old Steven Morphin at the Rodeway Inn in Pasco overnight.
After arriving at the residence in the 1500 block of West 7th Place in Kennewick the afternoon of September 11, police found Martin Ibanez of Pasco had been shot. He died at TRIOS ER from his injuries.
Little was known at the time, but police were able to piece together evidence especially related to the suspect vehicle seen driving away. It was later found to be a 2007 Chevy Malibu (pictured). More leads and a tip led to police locating him at the Rodeway Inn in Pasco, where Morphin was taken into custody.
He's currently in the Benton County jail on a 72-hour investigative hold for murder. Sources say Morphin allegedly shot Ibanez at the home's driveway before driving away.
