It's been a part of the Tri-Cities Summers for the last 33 years but organizers are pulling this year's event and it's unlikely to return in the future.

Ye Merrie Greenwood Renaissance Faire has been canceled for 2020.  It's been a great summer event for the last 33 years in the Tri-Cities but organizers say that couldn't come to an agreement with the City of Kennewick.

It appears a move from the old stomping grounds of Howard Amon Park in Richland to Columbia Park in Kennewick has been costly for The Ye Merry Greenwood Players who organize the event each year.

The event normally attracts about 6,000 people but last year's unusually hot June caused a $9,000 decrease in ticket sales.

The Ye Merry Greenwood Players also say that escalating costs and requirements don't make the Faire feasible for this year.

It's sad to see it go, perhaps another organization with some deeper pockets could help out the group.
