Vandals Render Church Unusable by Spraying Fire Extinguishers
Church officials will have to clean up the inside of the Eltopia United Church of Christ before services can be held there, as well as events, after a vandalism event.
Franklin County Sheriff's say two juvenile boys are in custody after they allegedly broke in to the church and discharged at least one entire fire extinguisher and sprayed it's contents all over the church sanctuary, hallways and other areas.
Although the contents of such 'dry' chemical fire extinguishers are not toxic, their powder and fine grit and cause significant respiratory issues for anyone who inhales the dust. The extinguisher chemicals covered the floors, tables, pews and other areas in a clearly visible, even thick, layer of dust.
The boys were caught and booked into the Benton County Juvenile Justice center on various charges.
