Probably one of the biggest 'fish' ever snagged in Morrow County, OR in recent years, this guy gave officers a chase.,

Morrow County Deputies now say bail stands at $1 million for a man who was chased last week through Irrigon, a sagebrush and then corn and then hemp field.

Last Monday, shortly before 11pm, Deputies attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle known to be driven by 41-year-old Jeffery Alan Kelly of Irrigon. After failing to pull over, Kelly led officers on a lengthy 20 minute chase out of town, on to Highway 730 after multiple turns and twists. Even County Sheriff Ken Matlack joined in the pursuit.

Finally, after plowing his Chevy Suburban through a cornfield and then a hemp growing field, Kelly's vehicle got stuck and he and a passenger fled. After a short chase and capture of both persons, 31-year-old Lucia Madrigal, his passenger, of Boardman, was detained then released.

Kelly was transported to the Umatilla County jail on a multitude of charges including:

"...Morrow County Circuit Court Secret Indictment Warrant on Sodomy II and Sex Abuse I. He is lodged in the Umatilla County Jail with bail set at $1,000,000. Further probable cause (PC) charges are pending, they include Felony Elude, Criminal Mischief I, Criminal Trespass II (x3), Reckless Endangering (x3) and Fail to Register as a Sex Offender."

His bail has been set at $1 million, one of the highest ever for a Morrow or Umatilla County wanted suspect.
