Occupy Wall Street and other protests,  nearly double digit unemployment,  raging discontent in the Middle East. None of it has stopped the White House from partying on.

The White House held a state dinner for visiting South Korean Leader Lee Mayung-bak.  Now, lavish state dinners are not unusual in Washington, especially with the US attempting to reinforce ties with this valuable ally.  But the degree to which the Obama Administration lays on the expensive frills has not gone unnoticed, even by some liberal critics. Michelle Obama even spent thousands on a dress made by a leading Korean designer; prior to the state dinner, President Obama also hosted the S. Korean leader with a private dinner at a Korean restaurant and a luncheon at the White House prior to the dinner affair.  Critics have not lost the significance of the difference in treatment between the South Korean leader, and the virtual snub given to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu late last year.  In that instance, the Israeli leader was left alone in a meeting room by Obama so he could go have dinner with Michelle and his girls.
