With school hopefully getting back into session this fall, lots of things are up in the air but one of the things already getting decided is what will happen to youth sports.

The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association is pushing the fall football season to start September 5th and other fall sports to start September 7th. The WIAA released this statement on their website:

During its July 7th meeting, the WIAA Executive Board took action to delay the start of the fall season until September 5th for football and September 7th for all other fall sports.  The Board will continue to work with staff, member schools and state agencies to monitor the impact of COVID-19.  The Board plans to make its next statement concerning the start of fall sports on July 22nd following its next scheduled meeting.  In the interim, a committee of Board members, staff, and select WIAA stakeholders will work to create a fall schedule with the adjusted start dates.

Schools and other members of the WIAA will have to adjust accordingly to these changes in the schedule. You can read more about these changes and schedules here.
