A 54-year-old Richland man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly beat a woman and held her against her will in an apartment.

Monday, around 12:45PM Police were called to a report of a possible domestic violence situation at the apartments in the 2000 block of Stevens Drive, believed to be the Northpoint Apartments.

When police first arrived no one answered the door for a bit, but then a woman came rushing out and immediately asked for help from the police.

Officers learned Duval Cardwell, the suspect, had been allegedly beating and assaulting the woman and preventing her from leaving. After an initial investigation, he's now in the Benton County Jail facing three felony charges including Assault, Harassment and Kidnapping. Police found and seized several guns found in the apartment unit.

Police did not say how long the woman had been held there. The investigation continues.
