It's amazing to think that just over 17,000 years ago, that Mammoths were roaming our region. Not millions of years ago, simply thousands. The dig was discovered when a man wanted some fill dirt and found giant bones in it. So for the past decade, when it's not freezing, the workers slowly...and I do mean slowly, remove dirt very methodically looking to unearth every piece of this mammoth there is. It's an all-volunteer effort, and the public is welcome to tour! Hey teachers, this would be a perfect field trip! Get the details HERE and watch the video below to see the dig in action.
