Saturday, June 10th, friends of family of a slain Granger woman are holding a car wash at the Autozone in Sunnyside to raise funds to help her 8 children. She is pictured (wearing red) holding some of her children, from a Facebook post advertising the benefit event.

Earlier in the week, we reported on the shocking story of Maria Gonzalez, whose body was found in a fire pit behind the home where she lived in Granger with her children, and the suspect, Jaime Mungia Alejandre. He's been arrested after her children called authorities. They'd heard them fighting last Thursday night, then when she was missing, the kids found next morning what turned out to be her dismembered body smoldering in the pit. She died from blunt force trauma.

The car wash will be at the Sunnyside Autozone store, from 10am to 3pm. Funds will go to help support the children, who are being cared for by relatives.  The store is located at 1800 Yakima Valley Highway.
