Benton County Sheriff's Deputies say a power outage Wednesday evening in the area of Rancho Reata in West Kennewick was due to an errant drunk driver.

Deputies say a man driving a large pickup reportedly plowed through a fence, hit a tree and a power box, causing a widespread power outage. That occurred near Sagebrush and Cottonwood Streets.

Deputies caught up with what they believed to be the suspect vehicle near East Reata and Vaca Roads, about a mile or so northwest of Clearwater Ave. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Andrew Jackson, refused to pull over for Deputies, they noticed a fence post was impaled through the front of the grill, and fluid was leaking all over the road from the truck. Jackson finally stopped and was arrested, after trying to run from officers.  He's facing a multitude of charges, not just driving infractions but for all the damage he caused with his rather large vehicle.

Benton PUD was able to restore service within a few hours. Likely Mr. Jackson will be footing that bill.
