Fortunately no one was injured, but the vehicle is pretty much totaled.

Tuesday afternoon while on patrol near the Columbia Park Edison boat ramp police and passers-by observed this Ford Explorer billowing smoke and flames.

Fire crews responded quickly and put it out; there were no injuries. According to the initial investigation, police said it was believed to have been started by an electrical issue under the hood.

That's some issue! Witnesses reported the smoke from the blaze briefly could be seen from beyond Canal Drive towards Clearwater before it was finally put out. No word if the owner was nearby at the time of the fire.
