In the wake of Gov. Inslee announcing a plan for low carbon fuel standards and other costly environmental ideas in his 2015-17 budget, a leading business group is hitting back hard on the airwaves, and asking for the public's help.

The National Federation of Independent Business is launching 2 radio ads on stations throughout Washington state, including Newstalk 870, featuring  a trucking company and a farmer.

The ads feature the owners speaking about how while everyone does have a responsibility to protect the environment,  Inslee's plan is essentially a huge gas tax that will hurt businesses and the economy across the state.

Inslee wants to implement, as we have reported extensively since the spring, a low-carbon fuel standard.  This fuel far exceeds existing EPA pollution requirements, but (long story short)  it's much more expensive to refine, and in much shorter supply.

Washington state's only refinery is not equipped to make this fuel, and we would be competing with Oregon and CA for supplies.  Before re-hashing the report and releasing it again in December,  even Inslee's own economists (Office of Financial Management) admitted earlier this year such a plan could raise fuel prices as much as $1.00 per gallon at the pump.

The ads urge citizens to call Inslee in Olympia at (360)-902-4111 and voice their opinion on this costly idea.   The ads ask listeners to tell Inslee this isn't a good idea.

You will soon be hearing these ads on Newstalk 870, as they start this week.
