The case stems back to 2013, when a young woman was forcibly taken to Mexico from Kennewick.

21-year-old Edwardo F. Flores Rosales is facing additional charges of sexual assault after he raped a woman after being court-ordered to stay away from her.

In December 2013, Rosales was charged with unlawful imprisonment after taking the girl from school during her lunch hour and driving to Mexico with her. The two had broken up the night before, and the girl reportedly told her mother she was going to say goodbye to him during her lunch hour.

Rosales took her to Mexico and the incident eventually triggered an Amber Alert. After being returned home to the Tri-Cities, Rosales has been accused of raping her in March of this year. He allegedly told her she had to have sex with him or he would report her for breaking a no-contact order by coming to his home to look for him. He had been given a 5-year no contact order not to seek out or have any interaction with the victim.

He was found competent to stand trial, and a date was set for October 26th of this year in Benton County Superior Court.

After serving three months on the imprisonment charge, Rosales allegedly showed up at the girls school, and took her with him to his apartment. The girl went with him because he had reportedly assaulted her before and she was afraid.  He is now facing two counts of Third Degree Rape of a Child and violation of a post-conviction no contact order.
