Dr. Michael Kintner, a scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, will give a presentation on the benefits of buying an electric vehicle Tuesday, March 12, at 7 p.m. in the Mid-Columbia Library, located at 1620 S. Union Street in Kennewick.

One scientific mission of the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is to increase U.S. energy capacity and reduce dependence on imported oil.

According to the PNNL website:

“Alternative sources of energy from renewables, nuclear or hydrogen, while promising, will not be available for 25-50 years. The nation and the world needs a secure "energy bridge" that will help transition the global economy to a renewable, nuclear and hydrogen energy base while reducing our dependence on imported oil.”

A test vehicle will be available at the March 12 seminar.
