Richland Police Say Body Inside Burning SUV Near South Richland

The investigation has begun, but police do say a body was inside the vehicle.

Reports indicate the vehicle reportedly crashed in an area off a dirt road that is often utilized by walkers. It was found in an area not far from the Crested Hills development in South Richland.

Authorities say a resident reported it around 1pm Monday, and said they were alerted by what were described as explosions or popping sounds.

Police have not said if foul play is involved, but the Benton County Sheriff's office is investigating, and have confirmed a body was inside.
