Tuesday night, Walla Walla police and County Sheriff's were able to convince a man to give up after he threatened to kill several people and himself.

Around 7:15pm, a call came in about 29-year-old Kemp Lamunyon, who had allegedly forced a family member at gunpoint to drive him to his ex-girlfriend's house where she lived with her current boyfriend.

Officials said Lamunyon threatened by text message to kill the woman and her boyfriend, and said anyone else in the house should leave.  Additional texts came in to the woman, as well as a text from the man driving him.

Using that text officers were able to locate the minivan being used to transport Lamunyon, and he was located near 2nd. Ave. Authorities surrounded the vehicle, and were finally able to subdue him after talking him out of the vehicle.

Earlier, he had allowed the family member to leave, and that man was treated for chest pains at a local hospital. A Sheriff's deputy was able to shoot Lamunyon in the leg with a non-lethal bean bag projectile, but he re-entered the van and refused to leave until a negotiator finally talked him out.

He is now in the Walla Walla County jail, and officials say he and his ex-girlfriend had a history of domestic violence between them.
