West Richland Man Tries to Run from Cops on Bike, Fails Miserably

A 45-year old wanted felon found out the hard way that a new Richland police cruiser will pretty much mow down a bike-even if it's BMX.

Mark J. Fleck of West Richland was spotted early Wednesday morning in the area of River's Edge High School in Richland.  Fleck led police on a chase when they tried to apprehend him, and temporarily hid while on the bike.  But officers spotted him, and he was eventually arrested in the area of Knight Street.

An officer was able to pull up alongside, grab Fleck's arm and pull him down, after a 10-minute chase. Fleck's high-performance BMX bike didn't help him get away.

Fleck was wanted on outstanding meth warrants in Benton County.
