Hundreds of residents in Richland and dozens of drivers on George Washington Way were inconvenienced Friday morning by a power outage. Officer David Clark of the Richland Police Department said something damaged power lines near the intersection of GW Way and McMurray Street. That cut power along most of GW Way.

The most significant impact of the outage was to the intersection of GW Way and Columbia Point Drive near Winco. Flashing red lights backed traffic up in both directions for several minutes.

Officer Clark said the lights were functioning properly again as of 11 a.m.
