Trader Bob Tory made another big move with the Tri City Americans Thursday, trading overage veteran goaltender Drew Owsley to the Prince George Cougars.

Owsley, who backstopped many big Americans victories, was sent to the Cougars in exchange for 19 year old goalie Ty Rimmer, and a 3rd round and 7th round pick in the 2013 WHL draft.  While on the surface it appears to be a shock, the long term picture makes sense.  The Americans have Eric Comrie, who is the highest rated prospect in North America, coming into camp.  This also frees up a 20 year old slot for later in the preseason, when cuts will leave only three 20's (as they are called) on the team.  Rimmer, who had a solid rookie season for Prince George, will add depth and push Comrie in the race for the starting goalie.  Owsley will probably become the instant #1 goalie for Prince George; as he leaves the Americans, he is in the top 3 in nearly every statistical catagory for goaltending, including alltime leader in playoff games (29) minutes played (1,884), wins (18), save percentage and shutouts in the playoffs.
