Thursday, in a move that did surprise some people, the Tri-City Americans traded 18-year-old forward Brett Leason to Prince Albert.

Coming off an 8-4 thrashing of the CHL Ranked #4 Moose Jaw Warriors at Toyota Center Wednesday night, the team made the move Thursday.

According to Amshockey.com it was largely a space and roster issue, said GM and Governor Bob Tory:

“With an abundance of forwards on our roster, some changes to reduce our numbers were necessary,” stated Tory. “To receive a quality draft pick in a return, we needed to move a good player. We wish Brett all the best with his career in Prince Albert.”

In 81 career games in Tri-Cities, since 2015, Leason scored 19 points, 9 goals and ten assists. He only played in one game in 2015-16, last year was his best season with 8 and 10. This year, in 12 games, he had 1 goal. The Amercans will get a 2018 3rd round bantam WHL draft choice in return.

It's believed Leason will fit in very well with P.A. and should contribute significantly to their scoring.
