Armed Teen Busted After Wild Pasco Stolen SUV Chase
Pasco Police and Washington State Patrol Troopers were busy early Monday morning, apprehending an armed teen suspect in a stolen SUV.
A Pasco officer noticed the vehicle near 14th and Court just after midnight Monday morning, driving erratically, so he attempted a traffic stop. But the driver detoured through a variety of streets until he ended up on I-182, then eventually looped south through west parts of Pasco, then back onto the Interstate eastbound.
By this time a check of the plates showed the white SUV has been reported stolen out of Kennewick. WSP troopers were waiting at the bottom of the Blue Bridge with spike strips, and blew out two of the vehicle's tires. The vehicle then abruptly stopped, and a Pasco officer pinned the driver's door shut with his right front fender. By the time the vehicle was stopped and arrests were made, it was just after 1AM.
A 16 and 15-year old were arrested, surprisingly the older boy was released to his parents. He'd been the passenger. The 15-year-old driver was booked into the Juvenile Center in Kennewick. A loaded 357 pistol was found in the back seat, one round had been fired, say police, but not sure when that took place.
The vehicle has been impounded for investigative purposes. Some of the pictures were taken from the Pasco PD officer's body cams as they approached to make the arrest.
