Beyonce’ Lip-Synched at Inauguration – Will She do Same at Super Bowl?
Yet another reason to watch the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet! Besides being part of the most annoying couple in America with her husband Jay Z - or however he spells it - America is going to be subjected to the former member of Destiny's Child during the halftime show of Super Bowl 47.
Beyonce' will be bouncing, jiggling and wiggling all over the stage, but we do have one serious question that comes to mind. Fresh off her confirmed mouthing the words of the Star Spangled Banner at the Inauguration Monday, some critics wonder how much vocal enhancement there will be for her performance at the Super Bowl. White House and inauguration ceremony officials confirmed what attendees and viewers heard on Monday was a recording, not her. The defense? She hadn't have time to rehearse with the Marine Band who would have accompanied her.
While lip-synching is nothing new in modern music, it's kind of sad, really, when you think about it. Musicians who used to prove their talent and power by performing live, now are dressed up and can hide behind auto-tuned studio performances.
Auto-Tune is an electronic device invented a few years ago to help fix pitch and note problems among singers. The reliance on it in the world of pop music has rendered talent and ability to the point of being a joke in contemporary music. Simon Cowell, the architect of American Idol and the X Factor in England, was embroiled in an Auto-Tune scandal last year over singers on the X-Factor who reportedly sounded a lot less talented without the use of the electronic device.
But back to the pending Super Bowl halftime show. Rather than sit in your chair, peer at the TV and wonder how she can deliver perfect lyrics and pitch while executing what amounts to a complicated aerobics exercise routine, why not watch something else?
