It's been years since there's been this much controversy over the Super Bowl Halftime Show. We want to know who you watched? (note! you will need to have the Newstalk870 Mobile App to give us your response!)

Did You Watch Turning Point USA's Presentation or Bad Bunny?

A little backround...Jay Z, the noteable musician and producer, has the contract with the NFL to provide the halftime show. Of course the NFL reserves the right of last refusal, but they've not shown any propensity to override the wave of artists who have not resonated with mainstream America. It began in 2019, and was renewed in 2024, mearning we will have to put up with another 3 years of....ugh!

That's why we had Kendrick Lamar in 2025 and Bad Bunny this year. They may be popular with younger demos or internationally, but not with large groups or demographics of Average Americans.

Plus the dustup from Bunny's since 'rescinded' statement about Americans needing to learn Spanish to understand his show, and his controversial views on gender and other societal norms led to Turning Point USA creating (for the first time ever) an alternative show.

Their formal announcement was made in October of 2025, leaving them many months
"behind" the NFL. However, the show, made up of Brantley Gilbert, Gabby Barrett, Lee Brice and Kid Rock pulled in big numbers.

And of course, we cannot forget the Puppy Bowl, which was started 22 years ago as a children's alternative to the halftime show.
