Big Gas Thief Busted (Tried Spray Painting Truck for Disguise)
The suspect wanted in a series of gas thefts involving stolen fuel station cards is now in custody.
Benton County Sheriff's Office says 28-year-old Blaine R. White is on a 72-hour investigative hold for his role in stealing at least $1,400 worth of gasoline from various fueling stations including a Pacific Pride location in Kennewick, one in Pasco and one in Lewiston. The thefts went on for at least a month.
Officials say they received a tip after posting his picture on various social media sites and after it circulated among broadcast media.
White, according to deputies, tried to alter the appearance of his truck by adding a stripe and spray painting it.
His address was located and deputies paid him a visit. So far he's facing at least two counts of 2nd Degree Burglary. An investigation at the scene led to probable cause to arrest him.
