Better get that fall watering in, as the Kennewick Irrigation District has announced the final day for water delivery for the 2016 season will be October 17th.

The District said Tuesday that will be the last day available for water, some areas within the KID system may see their water stop flowing from the spickets a day or two earlier.

During this period around October 17th, a variety of seepage and other maintenance testing will take place in the canals, most of them will still appear to be full, but water deliveries will not take place. The full canals are to test levels of water loss, so areas can be reinforced and patched.

Customers are urged to schedule sprinkler system blowouts as soon as possible, to avoid leftover water in shallow pipes that could freeze over the winter and results in leaks next spring. For additional information, you can check out the KID online by clicking here.

Other districts are expected to follow suit, contact the appropriate irrigation district you're a part of for details.
