Driver suffers fatal heart attack behind wheel, but miraculously no other vehicles were hit.

Oregon State Patrol troopers continue to investigate a semi-truck accident that occurred Tuesday near Baker City. A semi-truck driven by 49-year-old Douglas Caeton of Colfax, Washington was westbound when it drifted off the road, onto the shoulder, and up an embankment.

Troopers discovered Caeton had apparently suffered a fatal heart attack behind the wheel while traveling at highway speed! Based on data gathered from the scene, officials believe Caeton was at least able to partially steer his truck to the right shoulder and away from other traffic before the crash. Had the truck drifted left or kept going uncontrolled, it could have taken out numerous other cars and caused a far worse tragedy.

Sadly, after being transported to St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Baker City, he was pronounced deceased.
