Tuesday, Oregon Department of Transportation crews began installing the new faster speed limit signs on various highways and parts of Interstate 84.

Due to a bill passed in the Oregon legislature, officials decided certain stretches of freeways merited having their speed limits raised.  Parts of I-82, I-82 and state highways saw the changes go into effect.

The changes include Highway 97 down Central Oregon, from the Columbia River all the way to California, most of I-84 including the stretch from Hermiston to the Dalles, as well as several other routes.
