Eric Comrie was, a few years ago, the next in line in a long string of Tri-City Americans net minders who appeared to be NHL bound.  Thursday night, those dreams became reality. He joins Kolzig and Price as another outstanding Americans goalie to get to the NHL.

Comrie, who was drafted by the lowly Winnipeg Jets a few years ago, is in his second full pro season in the Jets organization.  He's been toiling for their minor league team the Minnesota Moose. The Jets are already eliminated from the NHL playoffs and with starter Ondrej Pavalec out with an injury (rest of season) they decided to throw Comrie into the mix.

Thursday night, he made 35 saves as the Jets beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-4. According to ingolmag.com,  leading hockey publication, the Jets offensively challenged Jets actually put up some points to help their rookie goalie.

Comrie has been used to facing a lot of shots. When he first started in Tri-City, he faced a LOT of chances, and once made 66 saves in a playoff game. Same for Minnesota and Winnipeg. Unfortunately for all their goalies, both teams are considered to be doormats.

While obviously feeling his way, ingoalmag said he looked every bit the part of why he was a top round draft choice and the magazine praised his poise, skill and mentality in the win.

Nice to see a former American join the ranks of Olaf Kolzig and Cary Price make his mark in The Show! We had a chance to meet up with him at the station a few years ago, quality guy that we're glad has made it to the top level.
