A firefighter at the Hanford Fire Station was being treated for exposure to low-level radiation after some contaminated equipment was brought to the facility.

According to Department of Energy Officials, the worker was exposed after some breathing equipment used at the Plutonium Finishing Plant (PFP) was brought to the station.

Nearly 100 of the 150 workers at the station have been tested to see if any other exposure is present.  DOE officials say the worker is not expected to face any significant health risk.  Of the 9 tests so far of workers directly exposed to the equipment resulted in only the one positive test.
