Oregon State Patrol officials continue to search for information as to why a driver crossed over into the opposite lane on Highway 11, triggering a four car crash that sent five people to area hospitals.

Around 7:20 am Thursday, A Buick Enclave driven by 51-year-old Kari R. Wilson of Helix was Northbound on Highway 11 just a few miles North of Pendleton when her car veered into the Southbound lanes.   First, she struck a Ford F-350 driven by 61-year-old Klause Hoehna of Weston. That caused the truck to travel off the highway and it rolled at least once.

Wilson continued Southbound and  collided nearly head-on with a 2000 Honda Civic driven by 24-year-old Henry Becerril of  Milton-Freewater.   Wilson's care then struck another vehicle almost head-on, a 2009 Mini Cooper driven by 36-year-old Raul Marroquin Jr. of Walla Walla.

Wilson's Buick finally came to a stop resting on top of the hood of the Mini Cooper.   Wilson, a 7-year-old passenger with her, and the other drivers were all transported to area hospitals with minor injuries, except for Becerril, whose condition was reported as serious.

All involved were properly wearing seatbelts or safety restraints, which troopers say probably saved at several lives.

The investigation continues.
