Officers were on routine patrol when they rolled past a backyard full of kids who had just had to stop their soccer match. One kick had landed the ball onto the roof, where it stayed. The kids immediately shifted from soccer players to amateur engineers, trying to use anything like sticks and chairs to reach it. Pasco PD described what they saw as pure chaos of a rescue attempt.

The officers thought they could help, tracked down a nearby work van owner, and talked him into lending his ladder. Within minutes, a ragtag rescue team of neighbors, cops, and kids had assembled on the sidewalk for a wholesome rescue operation.

Every Kid Has Lost Stuff Stuck on the Roof

I personally lost count of how many times something ended up on a roof growing up when I was growing up in the 80s. Balls, frisbees, those rubberband flying planes, or various other objects that were never supposed to be airborne.

Not once did a police officer show up with a ladder to save the day. Our lost balls stayed up there until the wind or rain took pity on us. These kids do not know how good they have it.
