L & I in Action: Panic Buttons Coming to WA Strip Clubs?
Most of the time Labor and Industries and OSHA 'news' is rather dry. This one, however, got our attention.
THE PROPOSAL WOULD REQUIRE PANIC BUTTONS IN ADULT VENUES
L & I will hold a hearing February 17th to consider CR-102, a new set of rules that would put forth the following requirements in "adult entertainment establishments." The would include:
- "Requirement that adult entertainment establishments provide panic buttons in specified locations. Panic buttons must be silent (discreet) unless an adult entertainment establishment’s safety committee has assessed the premises and operations and have unanimously agreed on the use of an audible alarm."
Some of the other portions of this new requirement would also require these venues to record accusations of assault, violence, sexual assault, or other related offenses towards entertainers. It would also ban for up to 3 years patrons who commit these offenses.
The hearing is February 17th, public comments, if it is adopted it would go into effect March 22nd, 2022.
