National Night Out was originally scheduled for August 4 in our area, but due to COVID, has been moved to October 6.  West Richland PD provided this statement Tuesday:

"National Night Out was originally scheduled to be held on August 4, 2020. With the current restrictions in place, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are postponing the event until October 6, 2020. Our community really needs this so lets all work together on following recommended guidelines so we can make this happen!"

According to wikipedia and other sources, National Night Out is a variety of activities designed to build relations between law enforcement and communities:

"The event is meant to increase awareness about police programs in communities, such as drug prevention, town watch, neighborhood watch, and other anti-crime efforts. The events are typically organized by block watches, nonprofit organizations, companies, and police departments."
