I think we've all done it a time or two. We've mistaken the gas pedal for the brake pedal and it looks like a Richland Driver did just that last night. A single-vehicle accident sent a truck smashing head-first into a Richland business.

The accident happened last night on 1/12/21 as Richland Police were called to a single-vehicle accident crash on George Washington Way.

The driver of a white truck hit the gas when they should've hit the brake and that sent the truck smashing into Amber Rose Consignment Store in the Uptown Mall.

Richland Police were called out to investigate and discovered that the driver of the vehicle inadvertently accelerated after parking in front of the business.

Here is what the Richland Police said about the incident:

The vehicle went through the front of the business and narrowly missed the employee working at the front desk.

Luckily, no injuries were reported. Neither alcohol nor drugs appeared to be a factor in the crash.

I recall one time when I was in high school and my car had a brake leak and I went to hit the brakes and there was nothing there.

I was scared and being all of sixteen, here I am trying to stop a vehicle from hitting something.

It luckily was early morning so besides going through a red light at an intersection, I was able to slow the car down by downshifting the manual transmission.

I'm glad no one was hurt in the incident.
