Investigators are trying to figure out why a Pasco woman was shot in the head, then walked for several days before collapsing near a pond not far from Zillah.

According to Yakima County Sheriff's the woman was found Monday evening near the pond, located at the end of Flint Lane.

She was found lying in bushes. She was rather incoherent due to her injury and exposure to the weather, but told officials she was injured then "walked for several days" with the bullet wound.

Her identity was not released, she was taken to a nearby hospital and was said to be in critical condition. Authorities are still searching for information leading to who or what caused her injury.
