Police Chief Destroys Brand New Patrol Truck in Accident
The Soap Lake Police Department is going to be looking to replace a brand new patrol truck after it was destroyed in an accident, and the Chief was driving it.
The Columbia Basin Herald reports last week Chief Ryan Cox was heading south on State Route 17, when about six miles north of Moses Lake, the brand new 2015 Ford F-150 patrol truck veered off the road. It struck a 2004 Ford Freestar that was parked alongside the road.
Chief Cox was injured in the wreck, although not seriously. Four teens who were sitting in the parked vehicle but they were not injured. According to the Herald, the accident remains under investigation, and apparently citations are pending.
The truck had been outfitted with necessary police radio and other standard law enforcement equipment. The department got the truck because it would help answer calls in rural areas, where often the roads are difficult to negotiate for regular police units.
