Missing woman's remains found near Granger

Jennifer Caridad, 24, of Sunnyside,  was posted as missing by the Sunnyside Police Department August 11th, 2021.  According to reports, she was the girlfriend of a notorious Yakima carjacking suspect, Aurelio Escobar who shot a man and took his keys in Yakima around the same time.

Escobar then began a multi-incident carjacking spree, which finally ended in Oregon after a shootout with Police. None were injured in last August's incidents before Escobar was captured.

A Washington State Forensic official was able to positively identify her remains, she was found in the Granger area, but authorities did not give an exact location.

They have not directly said if Escobar is believed responsible for her disappearance, and they have not elaborated on who may have killed her. The case is now officially a homicide.
